About Navjeevan

An institution built on love, devotion and dedication.

Ch. Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) is a city in Maharashtra, 410 km from Mumbai. World famous for its archaeological wonders of Ajanta and Ellora caves, it is considered to be among the fastest growing cities in Asia. Of its population of 16,87,000, an alarming 2% live with intellectual disabilities — yet the number of institutions working for them is negligible.

Founded by Mrs. Nalini Shah with the encouragement of Dr. Kumbhakarna, Dr. Ambadas Ambulgekar (both paediatricians) and Dr. Vinay Barhale (psychiatrist), Navjeevan began with 18 children in a rented place. Today there are 150 students under the roof of Navjeevan.
